The Costellos Maverick Pop
Lynn Johansen met Bob Costello late in 1991. Lynn began her career playing in a variety of bands on the Jersey Shore. Bobby C honed his skills throughout the Hudson Valley, NY. They formed a band called The Bandits. A few years ago they re-branded themselves as The Costellos. Throughout the years band members have included: Danny McLoughlin (played bass and produced their first two records), Sean, ‘The Minnow’ McCarthy (drums) and Mark Pukmel (drums). Tony DeMarco has also sat in on drums and has acted as their sound and video man.
Their current lineup is Mark Pisanelli on drums, Producer Art Labriola on keyboard and dobro, and Jeff Carrano on bass.
The Costellos have produced five records: Sygtagma Square, Roman Times, Outside of Paris, Darktime, and This Night, which are all presently offered on iTunes, amazon, and cdbaby. They are currently putting the finishing touches on their newest project Hold On. The project was recorded and engineered by Scott Hull, at his studio Masterdisk. It was co-produced by Art Labriola. On the stage Bobby C and Lynn have performed with a number of major acts including: Jon Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, The Crash Test Dummies, NRBQ, Reverend Horton Heat, Danny Kalb (former member of the Blues Project) America, Pure Prarie League, Belinda Carlilse, and Jim Lauderdale. They were also a featured act at Woodstock ’94 in Saugerties, NY.
The Costellos have made several TV appearances including a spot on CNBC’s show ‘America’s Talking.’ Radio wise, The Costellos have had major rotation on Triple A stations including: WDST- Wood Stock, NY, WKZE- Sharon, CT and WVKR, Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY. The Costellos are based out of Beacon, NY performing throughout the Northeast.
